Chosen Sunday was a powerful reminder that when the Church responds with generosity and compassion, lives are transformed.

Together, our church reflected the heart of Jesus by choosing to care for vulnerable children and families through our long-standing partnership with World Vision. Inspired by Jesus' call to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, we were reminded that our faith is demonstrated not only by what we believe, but by how we love and serve others.

A Legacy of Hope

Our partnership with World Vision began with the sponsorship of a single child in 2010 and became a formal partnership in 2014. Over the past 15 years, ARISE Church has sponsored 1,422 children, impacting more than 7,120 children and their family members through long-term community development in Malawi. Before Chosen Sunday, our church was supporting 509 child sponsors and 60 community sponsors.

This year's Chosen Sunday became another incredible milestone.

Because of the generosity of our church, another 125 children were sponsored.

That means 125 more children will have access to education, healthcare, clean water, protection, and the support they need to build a brighter future. More importantly, these children and their families will continue to experience the love of Jesus through the work of local churches and community leaders.

Lasting Change in Malawi

Our partnership is centred in Nyachipele, Southern Malawi, where World Vision is working alongside local communities to create lasting transformation.

Already, families are seeing significant change. Parents are being equipped with practical skills, children are benefiting from stronger support through schools and churches, access to clean water and sanitation has improved, household incomes are increasing, and communities are seeing reductions in child abuse, malaria, and diarrhoea. These are tangible signs of hope that are changing lives for generations to come.

This is the impact that becomes possible when the Church chooses to invest in long-term transformation.

Shining Bright Together

One of the key messages from Chosen Sunday was simple: care first, then share.

Throughout Scripture, God calls His people to care for those who are vulnerable, and Jesus reminds us that our good deeds point others towards our Heavenly Father. When we meet practical needs with compassion, we create opportunities for people to encounter the hope of the Gospel.

This is exactly what Chosen represents.

Every sponsorship is more than financial support—it is a declaration that a child is seen, valued, and loved. It is an investment in families, communities, and the future.

How You Can Pray

Please join us in praying for:

  • The children and families of Nyachipele, that they would continue to experience hope, protection, improved health, education, and the love of Jesus through the work of World Vision and the local church.
  • The local churches, pastors, and community leaders partnering with World Vision, that God would give them wisdom, strength, and favour as they serve and bring lasting transformation to their communities.
  • The newly sponsored 125 children, that each child would know they are deeply loved and valued, and that their sponsorship would open doors to a brighter future and a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

Thank you, church, for your incredible generosity. Because you chose to shine brightly, 125 more children were chosen, and together we are helping bring lasting hope to children, families, and communities across Malawi.
